Hi there! My name is Paulo and I am from Curitiba, a city in the south part of Brazil. I studied abroad in Canada in 2013-2014 and now I am here in Japan doing my Masters. I am the kind of person who loves to do multiple things rather than focusing just in one activity, so I have a lot to talk about. I am also passionate about teaching, so if you have any question I will do my best to explain it to you. I am looking forward to seeing you soon!

I’m Kaya and I am a Norwegian-American student currently majoring in communications studies in my favorite city, Tokyo. I have been living here since August of 2016 and am loving every minute of it (yes, even the crammed subway). I have a love for language, travel, food, and dogs. Japan, so far, has covered all those bases. As you may be able to tell already, I am 100% capable of talking your ear off, so sit down and let’s get chatting!

Hi everyone, I’m Chris and I came to Tokyo in May 2016 to learn Japanese and connect with the Japanese half of me that I know little about. Though I grew up in the suburbs of London, I spent my formative years in Glasgow where I studied Philosophy, and both the city and subject have become strong passions of mine, so please feel free to grill me on both! Whenever I have time I like to watch films, make noisy playlists of industrial techno, and seek out vegan treats in Tokyo. I think we have a great chance to share ideas and learn new things from each other, and I look forward to having a chat!

Hi everyone, I’m Val! I’m originally from southern California but I came to Japan in early 2016 to finish my degree here in Tokyo. Studying and living abroad has been a dream of mine for several years and I’m very happy to be here and experiencing new things every day! I have been interested in languages and culture since I was very young and I currently study both Japanese and Korean language at my university. I love travelling, meeting new people, and learning new things about the world. I’m also really interested in a lot of different music genres and love animals, especially cats. I like talking about all kinds of things and I’m excited to get to know you!

Hi everybody, my name is Colin, 31 years old, born and raised in France, Paris. I started travelling at a young age and since then have always seized any occasion to travel, study or work abroad!

Having always been fascinated by japanese culture I decided to come live in Japan for a year in order to live the dream and learn more about Japan and its people. I am now (sometimes) studying Japanese while enjoying Tokyo and I don’t think a lifetime would be enough to discover all that this city has to offer!

I like to talk, argue and discuss everything and would love to learn more about you and share a nice moment exchanging our stories and respective interests at LanCul so please come by anytime!

Hi all! I am Dennis from Singapore, the island with Mer-kun, don’t know where or what it is? Ask me when we meet.

I am an artist and in my last project, I made a timber boat even though I have never made one before. I would love to build my own house one day, build a sailboat I can live in and have a caravan to travel around.

Meanwhile, I am enjoying Tokyo, learning Japanese and thinking about the next project. Come have a chat with me.

Hi! I’m Polly from Bangkok, nice to meet you all! I came to Japan this April to study Media Art at Tama Art University. I usually draw illustrations during my free time, but right now I am focusing in the field of video making and media arts. I also love movies and music soooooooo much that I spend a lot of time (and money) going to theatres and gigs because I love the atmosphere of all these places.

But apart from all those geeky things, I love talking to people, exchanging cultures and thoughts. That’s why I’m here! So I hope I have a chance to talk to you all.
